Question

Why can't a limited Standard User view Tag Reports?

I know tags are new but a standard user that is limited can create tags and tag groups, can apply tags to an invoice, can view a list of transactions with tags via the tag module and can SEE the button that would generate a report but once clicked, a wheel just spins. This has to be an error? Makes no sense the user can do everything else but see the report.

Also, the user cannot view the Transaction List by Tab Group" report. Why not? That is the report I need this user to be able to access. They can see pretty much every other report except for the tab reports.

Please help.

Hello there, GU3.

I recognize the importance of being able to view Tag reports and other related activities. This lets the user get deeper insights into your sales and expenses.

I’m here ensure that your standard user can view the mentioned reports. Let’s run some basic troubleshooting steps to rectify the issue.

When viewing your tag reports, open QuickBooks Online (QBO) via incognito mode or a private window. This type of browsing session doesn’t save information like cookies or history, all the browser tracking gets deleted. It’s also a good place to start to check if the issue is cache-related.

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome).
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + P (Mozilla Firefox).
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Edge).
  • Press Command + Shift + N (Safari).

If your employee can view the reports, clear the cache of your normal browser to download fresh copies on the webpage. If the issue persists, access QBO using a supported browser and build the Tag reports from there.

To learn more about the Tag and Manage users' features, click on the links below. These resources provide detailed information on how to handle any Tag related activities. You’ll also see the list of tasks that each user can do in QuickBooks.

Drop a comment below if you have other concerns or questions about tagging transactions. I’m always ready to lend a helping hand. Have a good one.

Thank you for the response. The issue is not with a "Standard User" but rather a "Standard User with Limited Access". Please see the attachment below called Screenshot Standard User Settings. Those are the settings of the user which allows them to do everything with tags accept see the reports.

Look at Screenshot Tags, that is from the standard user account. There is button there to Run Report and when you click it, the wheel just spins. See Screenshot Wheel Spinning. Additionally, see Screenshot Admin Reports Search, when an admin searches for Tags in reports, two options come up. But when the standard user (with limited access) does it, there are no reports. See Screenshot Standard User Report Search.

Worth noting, if I give the Standard User "All Access" they can view the reports. But that should not be the case. If the user can use tags with the current settings and can even see the Run Report button, then they should be able to see the reports for tags.

The report that I need this Standard User with Limited Access to be able to view is, "Transaction List by Tag Group". How can I make that happen? Giving the user "All" access is not an option.
