Question

Why do the account numbers appear as a part of the account name? Can the account numbers be removed from the name when running reports? They should not be there.

Exporting a trial balance to excel requires extra steps to format because the account number is not separated from the account name... is there a way to have these export as two separate columns?

Good morning, @gnelson9999

Congrats on making your first post here in the Community. Allow me to give you some helpful details about reports and the account numbers listed on them.

The reason these numbers are listed with the account name in the Trial Balance report is to make the system more organizable. The only way to remove the numbers from the account name is if you remove them from the "Numbers" field.

You can send in your feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider removing the account numbers from the name in the near future. They take each and every request seriously so they can improve the system for everyone.

Feel free to reach back out if you have any other concerns. I'm only a post away. Take care!

Thank you for your reply.  I am not sure that this is going to help any. If I removed the numbers from the Number Field, then would I assume I would no longer be able to run a trial balance with account numbers.  This is the issue.  I need the account numbers (and most organizations use account numbers to organize their businesses), so it would be helpful to simple separate this field from the account name.  I would highly recommend that the Quickbooks team look to make the report exportable to excel with these as two separate columns (just as the account name and account balance are separate).  We import all of our information into Quickbooks with these a separate columns in Excel, so I am not sure why they cannot be exported in a similar format.
