Question

Why do zero-amounts show on my Profit and Loss statement?

When choosing the customization option to "Hide cents" (e.g. show all numbers as whole) on my profit and loss statement, I'm getting lines showing 0 where previously they would not show the number 0 and would instead be blank.

Any idea how I can get around this? Makes my statement look bad.

Hey there kris-schgbusines,

Thanks for reaching out to us here. QuickBooks Online is a great tool to have, it gives you the ability to customize your reports and helps keep your books balanced. It's important that your reports show the information that you need. I can provide some information about customizing reports.

To remove the zero from your reports, follow these steps.

1- Navigate to the Reports tab

2- Select the report that you wish to customize

3- At the top right left of the report, you will see Customize, click on Customize.

4- In the General section, you will see Number format, make sure the box beside Except zero amount is checked off.

5- Run report

This should remove all the unnecessary Zeros that you do not wish to see on your reports.

If you are unable to remove the Zeros after following these steps, I suggest doing some troubleshooting steps.

It may be browsing data on your system that is preventing the software from doing what it is supposed to do and preventing you from being able to remove the Zeros from your report. Here are some steps to resolve issues that are caused by browsing data:

If you are still unable to remove the Zeros , I recommend reaching out to the support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to verify your account details in a secure setting as well as view your screen to see what may be causing the issue. You can reach out to them using one of these methods:

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
