Question

Why does the Sales widget show a different income total than the income on the Profit/Loss widget on my dashboard? It should be the same. Income is income.

Welcome back! Making sure your numbers all line up is an essential part of running a business and I'm happy to help you sort this out.

 

When it comes to the tiles on the Dashboard, your numbers should be lining up. You're right, in this case, income is income. Since you're seeing different amounts, there's a setting I would like you to check.

 

In the upper right corner of each dashboard widget, you'll notice there's a date setting and a drop-down arrow. What might be happening is that your widgets are set for different date ranges, which would affect the numbers you're seeing between the two of them. Here's an example from a test file so you can see what I mean.

 

 

I've outlined the date and drop-down arrows so you can see where I mean and you'll notice the numbers are different between the two tiles.

 

If they're different dates, click the drop-down arrow and choose the appropriate match to see if it gets your numbers lined up as they should be. If not, I have another troubleshooting step I'd like you to try just to make sure the program is displaying information properly.

 

As a cloud program, QuickBooks Online can occasionally see display errors because of temporary Internet files caught in your browser or app's cache.
