Why don't journal entries show on a p&l?

1. incorrect date of the journal entry and/or the P&L report

2. accounts affected are not on the P&L (balance sheet accounts were affected)

3. journal entry was not saved

4. all lines of the journal entry affected only one account having a nil effect on the total for the date
