For example, it shows I owe -$2500 but when I record paying the $2500, it shows -$5000. Also, I am using QBO international

Hi, @PictureThis AYS. It's great having you again in the QuickBooks Community.

I'm here to help resolve the issue with GCT tax payment in QuickBooks Online (QBO) that increased the tax liability instead of balancing it out.

If you've set the tax payment type to refund, it will cause an increase in tax liability. To resolve this, you can review the tax payment type for the $2500 payment. Here are the steps:

  1. In your QBO account, go to GCT.
  2. Select the Payments section.
  3. Check the payment type under TYPE column for the period you paid.
  4. If it's a Refund type, select the drop-down arrow beside View.
  5. Hit Delete.
  6. Record the GCT payment again and choose Payment for the payment type.

If the tax payment type is correct and you're still experiencing the same problem, I suggest performing browser troubleshooting steps, as this could be a temporary browser issue. Start by accessing your account through your browser's incognito mode:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once you have opened the browser window, delete the tax payment as in the steps above, then record it again. If you can, proceed to clear your browser's cache. This process will remove and fix specific issues and help the program run optimally. Additionally, you can use other devices and supported browsers to ensure everything works as expected.
