Hi

I got message in my QB subscription that from 1st November, HMRC is getting closed to file return.

My company is already MTD registered and I am filing VAT return through QB.

Do I have to do anything else from my side?

Hello there, @Geetika Khanna.

I'm here to share the message that appears when you try to file VAT in QuickBooks Online.

Making Tax Digital for VAT is a government plan that encourages small businesses and self-employed individuals to maintain digital tax records and returns. The plan to go completely online will be phased in over several years, with the ultimate goal of being completely paperless by 2026.

VAT-registered businesses have been required to keep digital records since April 2021, using 'functional compatible software that can connect directly to HMRC. This means that HMRC will only accept VAT returns submitted through MTD-compliant software, such as QuickBooks Online.

Since QuickBooks Online is an MTD compliant system, you can go over with filing your VAT via our software.

Follow this steps how to submit via MTD in QuickBooks Online.

  1. Go to Taxes and select VAT.
  2. Select Prepare return.
  3. To keep tabs on your transactions for accurate VAT returns, use the VAT error checker
  4. Check the figures for each box and when you're ready, select Submit to HMRC.
  5. Read the declaration and tick the I declare the information is true and complete box to agree, followed by Submit to HMRC. Wait until you see the confirmation message.
  6. Once HMRC accepts the submission, select Done.
