Let's figure things out on how to add VAT rate in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @tmccar.

There's a need for us to set up first a VAT rate.

Here's how:

  1. On the left panel, go to VAT.
  2. Choose Add tax, then click Tax rate
  3. Fill out the necessary fields, such as VAT nameDescriptionCategory, etc.
  4. Once done, select Save

After this, once the VAT (13.5%) is added, we can now create a quote and select the VAT we created.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the +New icon.
  2. Select Quote
  3. On the page, fill out the necessary field.
  4. Under the VAT column, choose the VAT created under the dropdown.
  5. Once done, click Save.

Moreover, you'll want to check this article and learn how to file your VAT return and record your VAT payment in QuickBooks Online: File your VAT return and record VAT payments in QuickBooks Online.
