I have a number of client companies set up and I am receiving a QB email stating that the VAT Ids are invalid and need to be updated.  I'm confused as I have confirmed with Irish Revenue that the VAT numbers are correct.

Hello there, @Rachael93.

Since you're receiving emails stating that the VAT ID used is invalid and needs to be updated, even if it's already correct, I'll provide some insight to help you with your concern in QuickBooks Online.

To begin, please make sure that the VAT ID you entered in QuickBooks is registered in your region as well to your province. For example, if you are using QuickBooks in Ireland, your account and VAT ID should also be registered in Ireland.

If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Support team. They have specialized tools, including the ability to view your screen, to take a closer look at what might be causing the problem. They can also create a ticket for further investigation if necessary. Here's how you can get in touch with them:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company, then select (?) Help.
  2. Click the Search tab and select Contact Us.
  3. Provide a summary of your concern and click Continue.
  4. You can choose to Start a chat with a QuickBooks support expert online.

Our support team is available for live chat 24 hours GMT, Monday to Friday, to assist QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus users.
