Question

I would like to know if there is a way to edit a tax agency, the expense tax agency. By mistake I set it up to be an expense when in reality it should be a liability.

I've got you covered, @usermatt4.

The option to edit the account type on the created tax agency is currently unavailable. As a workaround, you'll need to inactivate the mistakenly created tax agency and recreate a new one. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click Taxes from the left menu.
  3. Select the Edit Tax drop-down and choose Edit rates.
  4. Find the mistakenly created tax agency, then toggle the option under the Action column to inactivate.
  5. Click Yes to confirm

Once done, you can now recreate a new one with the correct account type (liability). For more guidance, feel free to check out this article: Set up tax.
