Question

Morning. The Outside Scope of Vat rate has disappeared recently- is this a fix for the issue of OOS appearing on detailed Vat reports which is incorrect?

Tagging a transaction as Outside of Scope (OOS) shouldn't appear in your VAT Detail Report, H. Searle. I'll discuss this further and share with you the possible reason why the OOS VAT rate has disappeared.

First of all, the OOS VAT rate should not disappear from your sales and purchase forms because it is built into the system. I also checked our system and confirmed that no other users are currently reporting the same issue. One possible reason for the problem you’re experiencing could be outdated or corrupted cache files in your web browser. Over time, these files can cause issues when loading or navigating certain pages.

To address this, we can run some troubleshooting steps to ensure you can see the OOS on your sales and purchase forms. We'll start by accessing your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account through a private/incognito window.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you can see the OOS, please return to your regular browser and clear its cache. This will remove any outdated or corrupted internet files that may be causing issues while browsing. Alternatively, you may want to try other supported browsers for a better experience while working with QBO.

Regarding the issue you mentioned about the OOS (Out of Stock) appearing on the VAT Detail Report, it's important to clarify that this is not a fix on your end, as the OOS will still be displayed. However on your scenario since the OOS will displayed, please verify whether the transaction is marked as VAT-included or not. After this verification, if the issue persists, kindly follow the troubleshooting steps I outlined above.

Additionally, you can add and deactivate tax rates in QuickBooks. If you don't see them on your tax list, these instructions can help you create what you need: How do I set up sales GST/VAT rates and use them on forms?
