Question

QuickBooks bills us from London, we are located and operate from Dubai, but QuickBooks charges VAT at the local rate, but really should be zero rated - what to do?

We trade in Dubai, Quickbooks bills from London, they should know this is a Zero rated VAT transaction, but still charge 5%?

Hello there, d_linklater.

I want to help and provide exact information about your concern. However, I still need to gather more details about it. Can you tell me more about it? I would appreciate getting more information from you. Was your QuickBooks account created in a different region from where you are currently located? This way, I can provide the right amount and solution to your question.

We are located in Dubai and bought the UAE version of the software in Dubai. We have entered all our correct details including the TRN as stipulated by local law. The invoice is non-compliant, so I cannot recover the VAT across the several client accounts I have

I’m here to provide information so this issue gets resolved promptly, d_linklater.

It seems there's a mismatch between the location of your business and the billing entity used by QuickBooks. In this case, I'd recommend contacting our support team to address this, and you can explain the situation in detail. Our representatives can make billing adjustments to reflect the correct VAT treatment for you.

Here’s how:
