Hello,

Our government (Uganda) introduced a new tax in our industry, on top of the Value Added Tax (VAT) of 18% we were told to charge an additional 12%, but on invoicing only one tax can be used, yet both taxes are needed on the invoice

Kindly advise

    Hello there, @9130 3481 6861 7706.

You've got me here to help share some information about how VAT works in QuickBooks Online.

You have the option to enter directly the VAT amount of your sold items instead of having QuickBooks calculate the amount for you. However, you still need to select a VAT code so Quickbooks will determine the box on your VAT return to post the amount.

You can do this by creating an invoice that is exclusive of tax, then select 20.0% S as the VAT Code. Once done, you can now edit the subtotal amount.

Here are some good references that you can check out about handling VAT in QuickBooks:

If you need further assistance in setting this up, feel free to reach out to our Customer Care Team. They have advanced tools that can help you with the entire process.

Please let me know if there's anything else you need concerning VAT. I'll be around for you. Thank you!
