Question

Rounding of decimals in VAT returns. Revenue insist on NO decimals in returns so I always round down - omit cents in my returns. How can I get QB to ignore the cents?

Thank you for expressing your thoughts, maurice-mmchugh-.

I completely recognize the importance of being able to remove decimals on VAT returns. It can be a real-time-saver and makes the process of filing tax forms much easier.

The decimal function is set as default in QuickBooks Online (QBO). That said, the option to omit cents in the returns is unavailable at this time.

We're continuously working to provide features that meet customers' needs and ensure the best online experience. I recommend sending your product suggestions straight to our developers for consideration in future releases.

Here's how:

  1. In QBO, head to the Gear icon in the upper right and choose Feedback under Profile.
  2. Type a brief description of the feature you wish to add to the online program.
  3. Click Next to submit.

It's so important to stay in the know, and what our engineers are rolling out. You can visit the QuickBooks Blog to stay up-to-date with all the latest enhancements and features added to QBO. Plus, you'll find tons of helpful references to start and grow your business.

We also have some resources that tackle adjusting sales taxes, and processing, and recording tax payments. You can find more information on these topics by visiting the following links:

Keep in touch @maurice-mmchugh- if you have any clarifications about filing your VAT returns or additional questions about omitting decimals. I'm always ready to assist you further. Have a great rest of the day.
