Question

South Africa has adjusted the VAT rate from 15% to 15.5% with effect from 1 May 2025. How do I know if QuickBooks is going to action this for me or not?

QuickBooks Online (QBO) will automatically update the adjusted VAT rate in your account, KevvyB. Let me elaborate more on this.

With QuickBooks, the program is compliant with the regulations set by the tax agency and will effectively update from the current 15% VAT to the new 15.5% tax rate on May 01, 2025.

Moving forward, the system will implement the new VAT rate on all invoices, maintaining tax precision and eliminating the need for you to make manual modifications.

For any future requirements to modify VAT rates in QBO, refer to this guide to know more about the consequences of rate alterations and instructions on how to implement them: Edit VAT rate in QuickBooks Online.

With this compliance, you'll able to manage tax calculations and overall VAT. If you need more help,  feel free to reply in the comments below. Keep safe.
