To ensure that my clients are tracking sales tax on each sale and purchase in QuickBooks, where should I add a tax rate in QBO?

In QBO, tracking and adding a tax for each sale and purchase can be done within the Tax menu. Kindly follow these steps: 

 

  1. Ensure that you set up your Sales Taxes. If you already set up your sales tax, skip this part.
  2. Go to the Taxes menu located in your left navigation panel.
  3. At your top right corner, click Add Tax. And then choose Tax rate
  4. Fill up the necessary details such as the Tax name, and Description. 
  5. In the Tax Agency, tick the Sales and the Purchases option.
  6. Fill up the necessary fields and click Save
