Let's resolve the error you're having to set up your taxes, @Block-Five

If you’re adding a group rate, before saving it you must add at least 2 Tax Codes and Description. Also, please take note that a Group tax, once created, cannot be edited or deleted. Here’s how to add one:

  1. Go to the Taxes page from the left menu and select Add Tax.
  2. Click on Group Rate and then select Next.
  3. Enter the Tax Code and Description.
  4. Select the Tax Rate and where it applies to Net, Tax, or both.
  5. Select Done.

Here’s more information on how to set up sales GST/VAT rates and use them on forms? (International QBO).

I’m always here if you still have questions about the error you’re having. Let me know by leaving a comment below. Have a good one!

I think you are missing my point.
I cannot do anything in the Tax section of the website!

I click to setup, follow the steps, and after confirming it displays an error. The only option I have then is to close the page (via the 'X' in the top right corner) which takes me back to the beginning where I must click the setup tax button again.

I have tried using Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge & Firefox. I have also tried using Private Window/Incognito on all three browsers. Exact same results.

Again, I cannot get to the screen to add any groups, and I cannot get to the screen that displays the taxes. I have followed your guides in the help sections, forums posts, and your YouTube videos, but there is no mention of this circumstance.

Hello there, Block-Five,

You're on the right track in performing browser steps to help fix the tax setup error. Since the steps don't make any difference, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They can securely pull up your account, determine what's the root cause of this issue, and help you resolve it.

  1. Go to the Help menu at the upper right.
  2. Choose Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern under What can we help you with?.
  4. Click Let’s talk.
  5. Choose Start an email
  6. Type in your contact info.
  7. Choose Send email

The screenshot below shows you the fifth step.

Once fixed, you'll be able to set up your taxes in the Tax Centre. You can check out this website: Set Up Sales GST/VAT Rates. This link provides you steps on how to turn on tax tracking, add, and deactivate tax rates.

After that, you can apply the rates to your sales forms. At tax time, filing and paying Tax/GST are parts of your business tasks. To learn more about this process, go through this article: File and pay Tax/GST
