Hi there, @Dlmm324.

Yes, you can set up bank rules to automatically categorize the transactions from your bank and back out the HST. I'll guide you on how.

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Click on Transactions or Banking at the left pane, then click on Rules.
  3. Select New rule.
  4. Enter a name in the What do you want to call this rule? field.
  5. From the Apply this to transactions that are ▼ dropdown, select Money in or Money out.
  6. From the In ▼ dropdown, select the bank account.
  7. Set the rule conditions. You can set a single rule with up to 5 conditionals. Set and include the following, then select + Add a condition.
  8. In the Conditions fields, specify whether the rule applies to DescriptionBank text, or Amount. Then select ContainsDoesn't contain, or Is exactly to decide how QuickBooks applies the rules.
  9. Then select the Transaction typeCategoryPayee, and Tax to apply. You can use Zero-rated (%) or Exempt (%) to zero out taxes from your entries.
  10. Hit Save.

For more tips about creating bank rules in QBO, you can open this article: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Just in case you need help in categorizing your transactions manually, check out this link as your guide: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you need to change or move a transaction to a different account, follow these steps to undo or unmatch it. Additionally, you can proceed with your reconciliation to balance your books or statements.
