Hello judiklein12@gmai,

Knowing if and when to charge sales tax is a good way to prevent needing to make corrections to your books in QuickBooks Online later on. I want to ensure that you receive the guidance you're looking for with this question, and I have a few resources to suggest for you.

As a QuickBooks Team member, I can share about the features of the product and guide you through using them, but questions like this one about whether to charge GST and PST on certain items is out of my scope. For that reason, I have a few recommendations.

My first recommendation is to work with an accountant. When you team up with a good accountant, it's a continued benefit because they'll be able to help you with multiple areas of your books, not just on one thing. You can even add a couple accountants as users to your QuickBooks Online so they can work with you directly in your books. To get started, visit the My Accountant tab, which provides a field where you can invite your accountant by email, or there's also the Find a pro to help button, which takes you to our directory of QuickBooks-certified professionals in your area.

Another resource you can take advantage of is the CRA website. Here are some articles I found that might help you get started with learning more about charging sales tax, and you can also use the final link to see how to connect with the tax tips line.

I hope this has been helpful! You could also still receive from further guidance from other QuickBooks users here in this Community forum, but for more immediate responses, these resources I've shared can help.

Have a great day.
