Filing GST/HST in QBO error message

Unable to mark as filed, the GST/HST report in QBO

This error message appears when I try to mark as filed: 

 

You must also click Save again to make this change that is prior to the closing date. (code: "INDIRECTTAX-10623")
 
The books are closed, the CRA filing is done, but QBO will not let me 'Mark as Filed'
 
What am I missing?

Hi there shelleybrad3,

 

It's important that all your taxes be entered correctly so that your books can be balanced. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help keep track of tax on transactions so you know the total you need to file and pay to the government. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with this filing.

 

One possible cause for this error message would be the fact that the books are closed. The first troubleshooting step to try would be to open the books to do this filing, and then try to file before closing the books after. This can be done by going to the Gear Icon, then Account and Settings. Go to the Advanced section then go uncheck the close books option in the first subsection.

 

If the error still persists while the books aren't closed, I recommend reaching out to the QuickBooks Online support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to view the error with you as well as your settings in a secure location in order to help you get those taxes marked as filed. You can reach them using these methods:

 

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
