Hi agnesalednicka,

Thanks for reaching out with your question about the GST column. The QuickBooks Online program has a comprehensive Sales Tax module. From what you've described, it sounds like you may not have GST set up as one of your tax codes. I can help you check what codes you have set up in your QuickBooks Online account.

When you record an invoice or expense, the program is looking for you to enter the appropriate sales tax code. If you click the drop-down, you will see the currently set codes. If you enter anything other than one of those Sales Tax codes, it'll prompt you to input a valid entry. If you need to create a new tax code, you can follow the steps in this article: How to set up a new sales tax code.

If you'd like to learn more about the Sales Tax Module, I've found a few other articles that you may find helpful:

Once you get the right tax code in your Sales tax column, you'll be back to business. Let me know if there's anything else that I can help with. Have a good night!
