How do I add GST as a standalone tax code? Have an invoice charging us GST only.

I have an invoice where we have only been charged GST. GST is not set up as a tax code and I need to add it. I have tried adding a tax, but it's not an option. How do I add GST as a tax code?

Welcome to the Community. It's imporatant to correctly set up your GST tax to ensure that the correct amount is reported to the government. QuickBooks Online is a flexible program that simplifies the way you manage your books. I'd be glad to point in the right direction on how to set up a sales tax.

 

I encourage you to review this article on how to set up a sales tax code in QuickBooks Online. You can also add sales tax by province.

 

Once you've set up your GST rate, you can add it to an invoice by click on + New > select Invoice > enter your customer, and select the product/service you're invoicing for > then click the "Sales Tax" column to select GST > Click on Save and Close.
