Hello maureenrushforth,

Thanks for joining us! Making sure you only have the configurations you need in your books is the perfect way to ensure that you're able to work as seamlessly as possible in QuickBooks Online. It sounds to me like you're looking to remove a sales tax code so that you no longer see it on forms when you're looking to add a tax code to your transaction. I can help you with this.

While sales tax items cannot be deleted in QuickBooks Online, they can be made inactive, which removes them from your lists so you don't accidentally choose ones you don't need. Here's how to do it.

  1. Select Taxes from the left menu.
  2. Choose Manage sales tax from the Sales tax page.
  3. Select Make inactive beside the code or codes you no longer need.

Pretty easy, right? If you ever need to make them active again, follow the sames steps, but choose Make active instead. Here's an article you can save with the steps if you'd like: How do I delete a sales tax code?

Give me a shout if there's anything else I can help you with. Have a great week.
