Hello uservizeondistributi,

QuickBooks Online keeps things as simple as possible when it comes to working with your sales tax information. From entering it to tracking it to filing it, the program aims for accuracy and ease of use. Luckily, working with sales tax adjustments is also part of that, and I'd be happy to show you how you can take care of deleting your adjustment.

For this process, we actually have a handy article that outlines each of the steps for you. I recommend taking a moment to go through the Create or delete a sales tax adjustment if you haven't already. One thing to take note of is that the article recommends creating income or expense accounts depending on the adjustment type you're making, but even if you didn't do that and the adjustment has just gone to a chequing account instead, it's possible to delete it. In those cases, the steps would be just slightly different since chequing accounts and expense or income accounts have different options in the Chart of Accounts.

If the adjustment went to a chequing account instead, here are the steps you can take.

  1. Select Accounting from the left menu.
  2. In the Chart of Accounts, find the chequing account the adjustment went to.
  3. Click Account history.
  4. Find and select the adjustment entry.
  5. Select Edit to bring up the transaction (Note: the Delete button in the account register won't work for this kind of transaction).
  6. Click Delete at the bottom of the adjustment transaction.

Whether you're working with income, expense, or chequing accounts, these steps should get you back on track. Don't hesitate to comment here again if you'd like further guidance or clarification though. I'm here to help!
