Hello cnd.excavating,

It's great to hear from you again. QuickBooks Online likes to keep things simple when it comes to sales tax, and I'd be happy to guide you on working with tariff taxes for your transactions.

In QuickBooks Online, it's possible to add or create the taxes you need to apply to your transactions. For something like a tariff tax, you could set this up as a custom tax code to apply how you need to on your transactions, and the How to set up a new sales tax code article can get you started with that.

If you need some assistance with setting up the sales tax code from an accounting perspective, I encourage you to consult an accountant. Whether you have someone you're already working with or would like to find an accountant, QuickBooks Online's My Accountant tab can help. There, you can invite your accountant as a user or use the Find a pro to help button to research QuickBooks-certified accountants near you.

I know tariff taxes are applied when it comes to imported goods, so I wanted to highlight another article for you just in case this is something you come across with your books. The article, How to record a sales tax expense on imported goods, walks you through working with that kind of transaction if you ever need it.

I hope this helps you get back on track with working in QuickBooks Online. Take care.
