Question

How to set up categories for quick GST method GST? I need one @2.6% on 1st $30k revenue and one @3.6% for >$30k. These are remittance rates. Billing is @5%.

Welcome to the community! Recording your sales taxes properly in your account is important for your business. The Sales Tax Centre in QuickBooks Online is a robust feature that helps you track your sales taxes and prepare accurate tax returns. I'll be happy to share more on this.

 

At the moment, the Sales Tax Centre in the program uses the regular method for reporting your sales taxes. You can learn more about that in this article: File sales tax

For any other accounting method, you'd have to do so manually. To set up categories or accounts to assist you in the system, here's an article: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online

 

I'd also recommend talking to your accountant to make sure everything is lining up correctly in your books. If you don't have an accountant, you can find one on our Find-a-ProAdvisor website
