Question

HST

I have created an invoice on the bottom it has a 10% charge for HST. As I live in Alberta, I do not charge HST only GST. I have looked at editing the invoice and the tax information but cannot seem to find a way to remove the charge.

In the Edit tax agency settings, the information for the box does say GST/HST number.

Can anyone point me into the correct direction to delete HST?

Hi TorqueTurn,

Welcome to Community!  It's essential that you're able to complete your business forms effortlessly with the applicable sales tax.  QuickBooks Online has the versatility you need when adjustments need to be made.  I'll be happy to assist!

Although you can't delete a sales tax rate, you can make it inactive.  This will remove it from your forms and eliminate the need to do adjustments on invoices and other items.

Here's how to make the HST tax rate inactive;

1. From the left menu, open Taxes and then Sales tax

2. Click on Manage sales tax

3. Locate the tax agency associated with the rate you'd like to make inactive

4. In the Action column, click on Make inactive

5. Hit Done to save the changes

You're all set!
