Question

HST RETURN. QBO incorrectly calculated Total revenue. When I look at the sales number in the profit-loss statement it did not match line 101. Anyone else encounter this?

Hi ichan,

It's important all your transactions and totals are reflecting the correct amounts. I'd be glad to steer you in the right direction with this so you can experience the amazing benefits of the program.

To ensure that your transactions are correct, I recommend reviewing the transactions that are included in line 101. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Taxes from the menu on the left and click Sales Tax at the top.
  2. Go to the Action column on the right and click the black drop down arrow next to Prepare return.
  3. Select View summary.
  4. Click the amount under the Total column for Line 101 Sales and other revenue. This will pull a detail report of all the transactions that make up line 101 on the return.

With this info you can determine what transactions are missing or transactions that aren't supposed to be showing there. I also recommend checking with your accounting method as that can cause a difference in totals. Check out this helpful article which shows you how to edit your accounting method: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-ca/accounting/change-your-accounting-method/00/261328/.

You can also change the accounting method on your reports by following the steps in this article here. The article shares more details on how each accounting method affects your reports.

If you're still having issues after following the steps above I suggest reaching out to our support team using the details below:

  • Schedule a Callback or Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat. Support is available from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.
  • Social MediaFacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

Otherwise, feel free to leave a comment below. I'll be on standby.
