Question

I changed my tax codes in QBO under Taxes, but the new tax codes do not appear in the Tax code drop down. How do I get the tax code drop down to use the new tax codes?

Hi there,

Running your business with QuickBooks Online is the best way to save time and effort with your bookkeeping. It's so simple to add new tax codes, and I'm glad you were able to complete this task on your own. Now that you've created a new tax code, I'd be happy to explain how you can ensure it appears in the drop-down menu.

It sounds like you may be experiencing some latency in your account, and that your QBO file isn't acknowledging the changes you made in the tax center. Don't worry, after a few browser troubleshooting steps I'm confident this will get cleared up.

Try clearing the cache and cookies in your web browser. These are the stored Internet files that build up over time and they can cause bugs in QBO and other sites. If you're not sure how to clear them, take a look at this helpful community article: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

If the issue persists, try using an Incognito window in Google Chrome. This is a private window that runs independently from the rest of your browser and it can help diagnose browser troubles. Here's more information about what that is and how to use it: Browse in private. I'd also recommend using an alternative browser all together if you still don't see your tax code.

If you're still unable to view your new tax code in the drop-down menu, please reach out to our tech support team so an agent can take a closer look at what may be happening.

Have a great day.
