Question

I don't have a Business Number to match the format you require in "Get paid faster" registration. It's not my GST number or our provincial Business registration number?

Hello g-gayton,

It sounds like you're in the processing of applying to use QuickBooks Payments Canada, which is so exciting! This makes receiving your customer's payments by credit card as easy as checking a box on an invoice. I want to make sure you're able to complete the sign-up process, so let me point you in the right direction.

The 15-digit number that's required during the Business info section of the Payments application should be a valid Business Number (BN) with 9 digits, 2 letters, and 4 digits. This info helps us to verify your business because Payments deals with real money movement, rather than just entering transactions for money movement that's taking place outside of QuickBooks.

There isn't an option to indicate that your Business Number has a different numbering format, or a way to override the format that's required in the form. Since I know how important it is to have more than one format option for entering a Business Number, I suggest submitting feedback on this to our product development team via the Feedback option located within the Gear icon. This is a great way to have your voice heard. I'll also be sure to pass your feedback along on my end too.

There are tons of other options for accepting credit card payments in cooperation with QuickBooks, and you can find those through the Apps tab located in the left menu. Use the Search function to enter key words and browse the third-party apps at your disposal. You're also welcome to consult with our team of Payments specialists by reaching out for support using one of the methods below:

Phone and Chat: Click Contact Us to learn how to reach phone and chat support.

Schedule a Callback: click (?)Help in the upper right > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback (Note: Callback hours are the same as regular phone hours.)

Social MediaFacebookTwitter, and Instagram from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET

I'm confident that you'll be accepting payments from your customers by credit card in no time. Have a great evening and don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything more I can do to help.
