The amount of GST/HST refund is not the same because they have given us interest on the "instalment".

Hello kr-acres, and welcome to the QuickBooks Community.

It's good to hear that you were able to work out this situation at the government level. Now it's just a matter of making sure your GST/HST refund is applied correctly in QuickBooks Online. I can see this isn't the usual straightforward situation, and I want to ensure that you have the direction you need for resolving this.

With more detail about the amounts you're working with, clarification on what you mean when you say the government applied it to prior year's taxes, and other details like that, it becomes easier to address this kind of situation. The other thing to keep in mind is that depending on exactly how this all worked out, it may be best to work with an accountant since it doesn't involve the straightforwardness that working with sales tax filings in QuickBooks Online usually does, like I mentioned.

For that reason, I encourage you to consider working with an accountant on this one. An accountant, especially one that's familiar with QuickBooks Online, will have a sense of how to tackle this situation to meet your books' needs. If you have an accountant already, you can give them access to your books by going to the My Accountant tab and inviting them on as a user. If you don't have an accountant, that same tab will show you the Find a pro to help button. This takes you to our list of QuickBooks-certified accountants near you.

If you'd like to have a more in-depth discussion with a member of the QuickBooks Online tech support team to see what we can work out, I recommend using one of the following options to get in touch.

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.

Social MediaFacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
Support hours are from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

Wishing you the best with this!
