Question

I have an invoice to pay that has only charged GST. How do I enter this on a bill as the only option is HST or Out of Scope?

Hi there,

QuickBooks is designed to make your work simpler. Recording invoices is an area I'm well-versed at and I'd be happy to give you a hand so you can get back on track.

In order to add GST to the invoice, you'll first need to set it up in the Sales Tax Center listed under Taxes from the left menu. The following article includes steps on how to add and edit tax rates:Set up your sales tax. You'll have to follow the article and add GST as a tax code so it appears as an option on the invoice screen below.

Once you've added GST as another tax code, you'll see the option to apply it when creating an invoice. To learn more about sales tax codes in Canada, check out this helpful article:  Common sales tax codes.
