Question

I'm in Quebec. Why don't you support Qst tax? And how can I get around that? I need to produce tax repose. That's the whole point of using the app. Why don't you mention it anywhere when we register ?

Hello stellafaiko-gmai,

Thanks for sharing your concerns about the QuickBooks Self-Employed software and the details available about it during the signup process. I'll be glad to go over this with you.

I know having all the information you need about a service before signing up is important and I appreciate the feedback about noting more clearly that the program doesn't support QST. Right now, that detail is available in the Sales Tax Overview article, but I absolutely see the value in having it elsewhere too. I encourage you to share your thoughts about this by using the feedback process built into QuickBooks Self-Employed. Here's how.

  1. Select the Assistant feature.
  2. Type and enter the word feedback.
  3. Follow the prompts.

This is a great way to let us know what we can do to enhance the program and our signup processes. We know many business owners are eager to have the QST option available in QuickBooks Self-Employed and it's something we're continuing to explore. Adding your voice to the conversation can help with this process.

At this time, there isn't a way to get around this within the QuickBooks Self-Employed program. Since having the Quebec Sales Tax is important to you, I recommend considering QuickBooks Online, which does support this sales tax type. I encourage you to check out the Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online article, which goes over the options for switching from one to the other if you'd like to do so. If you have questions about the process, you can reach the dedicated QuickBooks Self-Employed team by once again accessing the Assistant feature, but this time type and enter "talk to human," then follow the prompts.

I hope that helps!

It looks like a scam, so much! Aren’t there laws against it in Quebec?

Hello GHLarou,

I hear your concerns about this. At QuickBooks, we strive to provide software that meets the needs of business owners and our product development team keeps a sharp eye on government regulations. Since QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't current support Quebec sales tax, QuickBooks Online can be considered as an alternative.

I always encourage business owners and self-employed entrepreneurs to weigh their options and make the best decision for their needs. While we'd love to have you with QuickBooks, we know that it's not the right fit for everyone.

I'll share your concerns with my team to make sure your voice is heard. I'll also be here should you have further questions.

Hi Georges00,

Thanks for joining in on this discussion. Choosing a product that meets all your needs is important and I want you to know that your concerns have been heard.

The more users that take advantage of the option to submit feedback, the faster our product development team can get around to making QuickBooks Self-Employed work for you. If you're interested in submitting feedback, here are those steps again:

  1. Navigate to the Assistant in the upper right corner.
  2. Type the word feedback and hit Enter.
  3. Follow the prompts to submit feedback.

I want you to know that I'll be passing the your concerns along to my team as well. We care about our customers and our goal is to do right by you.

Enjoy your day.

Same here, this means i have been paying for this service for a full year and it is only half useful. As mentioned above there should be a DISCLAIMER upon sign up, this is not only dishonest (purposely or not, its withholding information), it is also a huge waste of time which is the opposite purpose of using this app/platform. Do yourselves and your users a favor and make it clear Quebec Taxes are not factored in. I d go even as far as not allowing quebec user to sign up for self employed. This is unacceptable. Even more because this has been pointed out by other users and you havent  prevented from happening again cuz here I am....
