Hi amessina-veromix,

Welcome to the Community. It's essential to correctly record your refund to keep our books balanced. QuickBooks Online is a great program that gives you the ability to simply track your sales and expenses. I'd be glad to point you in right direction to record a overpayment refund.

In QuickBooks Online, you can record an overpayment refund in the program. I encourage you to review this article on how to refund a customer's overpayment in QuickBooks Online.

To ensure that the correct tax category is used for the refund, I recommend consulting an accountant as they have the knowledge to point you in the right direction to ensure that your books balanced. If you don't have an accountant, you can find one near you by clicking on My Accountant on the left navigation menu> and then Find a pro to help.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be happy to help.
