I'm trying to Pay last years HST. When I go to the Taxes -> Filings the only taxes displayed and available to pay is this fiscal's year. How do I change it to Last Y?

I'm glad to see that you're taking full advantage of the powerful tax centre in QuickBooks Online! It's the best way to keep an accurate record of your sales tax filings, and will help make sure everything is tracked accurately going forward. This advanced tracking is focused on providing you with insight over the next return to file, so you'll always have clear expectations going forward. This period can easily be changed, and I'll be happy to show you how.

If this is your first return in QuickBooks Online, the system will guess what your current or next period is based on your filing frequency. For annual filers, this often causes it to roll over into the new year, making it easy to keep track of your current liability. This is mostly for convenience, and you can easily prepare a return for any period in just a few steps:

1. Head to your Taxes tab and select Sales Tax.
2. Click Prepare return (don't worry if the date range is incorrect).
3. Enter a Start date, End date, and Filing date to match your actual return.
4. (Optional) Click Print or Export to save a copy for your records.
5. After reviewing each line, click Mark as filed.

You'll notice the sales tax centre will automatically display the following year, which will be updated once that one is filed as well.

If you've already marked a return as being filed, QuickBooks Online will automatically assign the Start date of your next return to file. This ensures consistency in your books, and helps us accurately keep track of exceptions. To file a period prior to the most recent filing, please reach out to your accountant or one of our agents through one of the channels below. They'll be able to reopen prior filing periods, allowing you to file last year's HST.
