Hi Jenn,

Thanks for joining the QuickBooks Community! It sounds like you're adding your transactions into QuickBooks directly from your bank feed. This is a great feature that'll save you lots of time when you get around to reconciling your accounts. QuickBooks added the ability to set a default tax code to these transactions to save you time when categorizing. I'll explain how this works.

While selecting a tax code for a transaction in your For review tab, QuickBooks will ask if you want to set it as the default tax code for that category. In this case, you've assigned HST ON as the default tax code for all transactions under Uncategorized Expense.

You have the ability to change the default tax code by selecting a different one, and selecting yes when prompted to set the new code as default. If you'll need to assign different tax codes to transactions within that category, you can simply select the appropriate code from the drop down menu.

If you would like to have the option to undo a default tax category selection, I encourage you to submit feedback to our developers. Simply select the Gear icon and click Feedback to have your voice heard directly by the team that makes improvements in our product. I'm sure other QuickBooks users would benefit from this as well!

Best of luck with adding in your transactions. Have a great day!
