Hello Sarah,

I love hearing that you're working with your clients with QuickBooks Online. With the option to connect to their account as an accountant user, it gives you the tools and access you need to help them directly in their books. I'll help you sort this issue with tax codes out so you can get back to working with the client's data.

It's good that the sales tax codes have been working up to this point. When you say that you can no longer see the tax code being used, two ideas jump to mind: the sales tax codes were made inactive or there are cache issues. I'll start with the first part.

When sales tax codes you're used to suddenly aren't available to use, the best place to start is with making sure they haven't been made inactive. To do this, it's just a few easy steps.

  1. Select Taxes from the left menu.
  2. On the Sales Tax page, choose Manage sales tax.
  3. Review the tax codes and click Make active for any that you need that are currently inactive.

In the event that the tax codes are configured just as they need to be, the next step is addressing potential cache, browser, app, or Internet issues. With QuickBooks Online being a cloud platform, it can occasionally run into problems because of these things. The troubleshooting steps below help ensure that's not the case.

Give those a shot and let me know if you see any difference once you go back to the transactions in your client file. If not, feel free to share more information and screenshots here so that I can get a better sense of what we're tackling. Keep in mind that this is a public forum, so don't share any account information and it's also a good idea to redact sensitive information in any images you may share.

I'll keep an eye out for follow up from you!
