Motor Vehicle expenses not showing any deductions in tax summary report

Hi I'm trying to do my taxes and my tax summary report doesn't show any deductions for my motor vehicle expenses. I am a cleaner and I drive a lot. like a crazy amount and I spend a lot on gas. I need some sort of deductions because it's a crazy amount of money. I'm on QuickBooks self-employed and I have made sure that I was correctly looking at the 2020 tax year, everything is properly tagged and I cleared my cookies and caches. I can't find anything online to help at all and nowhere on this site either. there has to be an easy answer. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi MelMac98,

It's great to see that you're using QuickBooks Self-Employed to track your expenses. It's perfect for busy people on the go, just like you. I want to make sure that you're getting the most out of your QuickBooks Self-Employed account.

There must be trips entered for your tax feature to pick up your vehicle expenses. I can help you check on this.

Open the Taxes module. Scroll down to Vehicle Expenses. Check what it is saying under your Total Business Miles.

You can add your mileage here by clicking Add a Trip. You can set the QuickBooks Self-Employed App to track mileage automatically. Here's an article if you'd like to learn more about it: Automatically track mileage in QuickBooks Self-Employed. This article also gives information about categorizing and editing trips.

If you continue to experience problems, you can contact QuickBooks Self-Employed support in-product through Assistant, type in talk to human, for one-on-one assistance.

Your welcome to continue to talk to a human here as well; I'll be here to help. Have a good day!

I have over 2000km logged for buisness trips that's not the issue. Plus I'm on QB self employed. The image u have attached and the step by step process you listed isn't available in my version of quickbooks.

Thanks for getting back to me, MelMac98. I used a Canadian QuickBooks Self-Employed account logged in through my internet browser on my computer. You'll need to log into your account this way if you haven't been accessing your account this way to see this screen. You may want to check your transactions to see if they've been tagged to vehicle expenses.

Here are some articles if you'd like to review adding and editing transactions:

Record or attach expense receipts in QuickBooks Self-Employed

Manually add transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed

Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed

If you'd like to verify the addition of QuickBooks you're using I can see why you don't have the same options as I see.

I’m having the same issue. I cannot get my miles to pull into my income tax summary. I have over 1,000 miles logged but they won’t pull into the income tax summary.

My mileage is showing up now. If you are having this issue go see if it has been corrected.

I'm having the same issue - I am tracking mileage, and the tax summary shows the expense, but not the amount eligible for deduction.
