I use QB Online Canada, taxes are off for a few cents as well, a few months after your post.

Was this resolved?

Thanks

    Hello again, dionnelema,

Making sure your sales tax is calculating correctly is an important part of the bookkeeping process, and I appreciate that you've reached out in a couple of posts to get clarification on this difference you're seeing in the calculation from what you're expecting. I've responded to you on your other post, which you can see here: Taxes are Calculated Wrong - Missing a few cents! Please head on over there, where I've outlined sales tax calculations in QuickBooks, what the potential reason for the difference can be, and what you can do if you'd like further assistance.

    Take care.

    Hi Dionne

Because each of the line items on the entry has the potential to have different tax treatments - HST, Exempt, Zero-Rated... - the taxes are calculated on each individual line item and summed up.

You always have the option of overriding the tax amount on the total entry but it's not material enough to matter in most cases, and won't get you into trouble with the CRA.

    Hope this helps!
