Hi exner,

Sending customers the correct information especially on an estimate is a focus for all businesses and it's something we make sure to provide. I'd be happy to help go over how to add sales tax to an estimate.

QuickBooks Online helps you when it comes to sales tax by automating the tax code creating and allowing you to assign the tax from a drop down list. To make sure your sales tax is set up correctly I recommend going over the steps in this article. After that if the tax codes are still not allowing you to assign them in your estimate I recommend clearing your cache and cookies and trying to open QuickBooks in a private browser such as Google Chromes incognito mode. You can also try a different browser or computer to see if the issue persists.

After trying these steps and you still can't assign a sales tax code I suggest contacting our support team using one of the methods below.

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.

Social MediaFacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
Support hours are from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

Have a great day!
