Hi sunwind,

Making sure your sales tax is using the correct amount is imperative to make sure you are filing the right amount to the government. I can help make sure your sales tax is correct.

QuickBooks Online makes setting up your sales tax codes easy. All you need to do is select the province and it adds the correct sales tax percent. To make sure the sales tax is set up correct you just need to follow the steps in this article and follow the steps for Provincial. Once completed your sales tax screen should look like this.

When your sales tax is set up correctly but still deducts the 13% instead it may be due to your customer or item having a default sales tax code assigned to them. If they do have a default set up it'll always use it despite what you pick on the invoice or bill. In order to check to see if there is a default set up for your customer you can follow the steps in this article and for items follow these steps: Sales>Product and Services. From there just select edit on the item you picked and you can see under the option for taxes.

Once it has been set up correctly the sales tax will be deducting the correct amount and you'll have no further issues.

Have a great one!
