Hi there, @Numbers Team. Let me share with you some information about unfiling GST returns in QuickBooks.

The system allows you to unfile your GST or sales tax return using QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA). If you have a regular QBO account, then this can be the reason why you can't unfile the return.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks, then click on Sales Tax from the Taxes tab.
  2. Select the Returns tab.
  3. Locate the sales tax filing that you'd like to un-file.
  4. Under the Action column, open the drop-down menu to view options.
  5. Select Undo filing.
  6. A window will appear asking Are you sure you want to go back? Review the information displayed and click Undo filing.
  7. A notification will appear next to your open filing, highlighting the date that the return was reopened.

You may also review this link as your guide: How do I un-file a sales tax return?.

If you don't have a QBOA account, you may consider inviting an accountant to unfile your return for you. Here's how: Invite an accountant to review your accounting in QuickBooks Online.

I have QuickBooks accountant and it will not let me undo a filing.  It is telling me to reverse the payment first and there hasn't been a payment recorded for this report.
