I've just transferred my business bank account and accidently unlinked the old account which is now closed.  This has removed all of the transactions from the last few years.  Is there anyway I can retrieve this?

Let me help you recover your bank transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), MBNton.

If you have recently disconnected your bank account, you will no longer see the transactions, but all of your data is still available. We can reconnect your account to your company file to retrieve this. To make the account active, repeat the process and turn it back ON. However, if you deleted the transactions permanently, there will be no option to recover them. That said, you'll need to upload them manually using a CSV file.

We can manually import the statements into QuickBooks to recover the transactions because we can no longer connect the bank account to QuickBooks once it has been closed. This is how it's done:

  1. Open QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser. Here's the link: https://uk.selfemployed.intuit.com/login.
  2. Go to the Gear or Settings icon and select Imports.
  3. Click Import older transactions for the account you want to add transactions to.
  4. Select Browse and find the file you downloaded from your bank. It's usually in your Downloads folder.
  5. Look for the file and select Open to start the import.
  6. Review the column headers and data. Make sure the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the CSV match the columns and order in QuickBooks. The other column headers can be in any order.
  7. Press Continue to complete the import.
