In QuickBooks Online, you can customize the invoice by adding a custom field for the purchase order number. Here's how:

 

  1. Click on the Gear icon at the top and select Account and settings.
  2. Go to the Sales section in the left menu.
  3. Navigate to the Sales form content section.
  4. In the Custom fields section, enter a Name for the field like "PO number."
  5. Choose the "Internal" option if you want the field to be visible in QBO, or select "Public" to display the field on customer forms.
  6. Click Save, then Done.

 

Once you've completed these steps, you'll be able to enter the purchase order number in the custom field when creating an invoice.
