Question

Can you add a reference column to the list of invoice under a customer so i can easily see which invoice i need to pull up ?

For example if i invoice one customer 10 times in July, if i could see a reference for each invoice - restaurant, bar, outside area , deliveries . I would know which one i am looking for straight away?

There's no option currently to add a custom column to the customer transaction list. As a workaround, you may consider adding a custom field to the invoice (please note, this feature is only available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Essentials). You can decide whether these fields show on the form (toggle on the option to 'print on form') or whether you want these for internal use only (so that they aren't shown to the customer). 

 

You can then run the Customer Balance Detail report (select the small cog to the right of the report > show more > tick the custom field(s)) to add this column to the report.
