Creating an Account

What is the best way to create an account to place deposits and issue refunds. I do not want these to be recorded as income or credits as they are just housekeeping deposits that will be returned. Any help please.

Welcome to the Community page, 

 

There is theses types of accounts you can set up any type of income account and call it deposits held and then when you go to return the money you can do an expense form that account. 

 

Account Types -Income> Detail Type -Discounts/Refunds Given> Name- (example Discounts Given or anything you want to call it)

 

Account Type-Expenses> Detail Type- Other miscellaneous Service Cost> Name- Discounts Taken
