Customer statements.

How can you back date a customer statement.

A customer is being audited and wants a statement going back 3 months but I am struggling to produce this as includes all receipts since this date

I'd gladly guide you in generating a customer statement for the last three months, Trudi0411.

To create a customer statement for the past three months, ensure to set the start and end dates correctly. It is also important to be aware of the different types of statements you will use, as there are three available options.

  1. Balance Forward lists invoices, payments, and the customer’s current balance for a specific date range.
  2. Open Item (Last 365 days) lists all open, unpaid invoices from the last 365 days of a specified date.
  3. Transaction Statement lists all transactions that have taken place for a specific date range.

For your three-month historical review, I recommend utilizing both the Balance Forward and Transaction Statement options. This combination will provide the most thorough and accurate picture of your customer's account activity.

For a comprehensive walkthrough of this process, I recommend opening this article: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can run a Transaction List by Customer report to review all transactions per customer and track both paid and unpaid invoices.
