DISALLOWABLE EXPENSES Why has my fuel been put in this section?

Hello there, @Shane0802. I appreciate you following the steps provided by my colleague. 

 

Yes, as stated above using the simplified method, you cannot claim vehicle insurance, repairs, servicing, or fuel costs using the simple method, but you can claim all other travel expenditures in addition to your simplified expense amount. The Car Vehicle category will be pushed into the disallowable area if entered manually. If you want this to be permitted, you'll need to add them to the Transactions page and categorize them as Travel Expenses. You can exclude all the travel expenses that are already registered as disallowed.

Hi there, @markbatchelor82. I'm here with some information about the simplified method in tracking your business car expenses.

 

Using the simplified method, you can't claim vehicle insurance, repairs, and servicing, or fuel costs, but you can claim all other travel expenses in addition to your simplified expense amount. On a manual entry, the Car Vehicle category will push into the disallowable section. If you need this to be allowable, you'd have to add and categorize them as Travel Expenses on the Transactions page.

 

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Click Add Transaction.
  3. Select Business if the transaction was for business, or select Personal for personal. If the transaction was both, select Split.
  4. Select Travel Expense as a Category.
  5. Click Save.

Once done, run the Tax Summary report and review your allowable expenses under Travel expenses.

I have the same issue . After following these steps I suppose I will need to exclude all the travel expenses that are already registered as disallowed
