Does anyone know if it's possible to use the internal invoicing feature for invoices which are to be issued in foreign currency?

Welcome to the Community page, 

 If you're using the essential package or plus account package, you can enable multi-currency( settings cog in the top right of QB>account and settings>advanced>currency>toggle on multi currency) and invoice in foreign currency.

You have to enable the multi currency feature, create a new profile of customer with the foreign currency, then you are able to send the invoice for the customer. As another option, you may explore these services to deal with multi currency transactions and integrate it with your QBO account.
