Does Quickbooks have a facility to capture invoices and extract the data from them automatically or do we need to purchase something like Dext or Hubdoc?

I can show you how to extract invoice details. While the option to snap invoices and upload them into QuickBooks Online is not available, you can connect your bank account. From there, QuickBooks will automatically download your sales and expense transactions. 

If you don't want to connect your bank account, you can integrate one of our supported apps. Just visit this page and search for something like an invoice: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home.
